 Just as France has wine regions here in Scotland we have whisky regions. Islay is one of the best known of these regions producing such famous names as Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Lagavulin and Laphroaig.
There are may theories offered as to why Islay whiskies have their own unique flavours, some say it's the shape of the copper still, some say it's the local peat, others say the water.
